The Rum Bar

| Guest Contributor

Specialising in classic rum-based and contemporary cocktails, The Rum Bar offers a civilised environment to enjoy an extensive collection of rums from around the world. Located at the Kingston Foreshore precinct, and with northerly views to the marina and boat harbor, Rum Bar is ideal for those who would rather not have to shoulder their way to the bar and shout over the hoi poloi in order to enjoy a good drink. Inside, warm tones and dark timber combine to create an inviting old world interior. A baby grand takes pride of place and is here for more than adornment, with live music on selected nights. Cocktails are taken very seriously, and bar staff are passionate about the craft. A roomy outdoor area is perfect on warm evenings or a sunny weekends, and if you are feeling a little hungry, you can choose from a succinct selection of traditional Spanish or modern Australian pintxos to accompany your beverage of choice. Easy grazing items include tempura battered eggplant chips or pistachio crusted roast pumpkin & wild mushroom arancini balls. More substantial dishes include Spanish style meatballs in a rich tomato sauce or lamb and vegetable stew served with house made warm mini Yorkshire puddings. Of course, a charcuterie board with seasonal cured meats, anchovies, olives, parfait & house made poppy seed crackers is always a good choice for keeping hunger at bay while enjoying the great drinks on offer.
