It’s almost time for the fireworks to light up the sky over Lake Burley Griffin as we welcome in the new year. So how will you be celebrating?

If you’re looking to take the family for a fancy dinner or lounge at a rooftop bar for drinks to watch the fireworks, we’ve got you sorted with some of the most exciting ways to welcome in 2023.

If you want the best spot to watch the fireworks in Canberra, Leyla Bar is the place to be. As Canberra’s most exclusive bar, Leyla is offering a five-hour premium drinks and canapé package.

From 7:30 pm on level 7 of the Burbury Hotel, you’ll get to welcome the new year in style with five hours of drinks, gourmet canapés, cocktails from Bombay Premier Cru, Grey Goose and Patron, and Moet & Chandon and more. A DJ will play music throughout the night to dance away 2022.

To welcome in 2023, Ostani Bar is throwing a New Year’s party you won’t want to miss.

To start, there will be live music and a DJ from 4 pm then Moet and Chandon spritzes and patron tap cocktails all night.

There will also be a Bacardi Pina Colada and Mojito Bar, and a Disaronno Garden Bar takeover.

Buvette at the Hotel Realm is hosting a special dinner with its New Year’s Eve degustation menu. Starting with a cocktail or champagne on arrival, you will then be tempted by:

Hiramasa kingfish carpaccio, finger lime, blood orange & gin sorbet – first course.

Abrolhos island scallops, cauliflower puree, champagne & caviar sauce – second course.

Black opal wagyu beef MB8+ tartare, toasted brioche, oscietra caviar, crème fraiche – third course.

Roasted Jack’s creek eye fillet MB2+, slow cooked brisket, pomme Anna, porcini puree, foie gras, Madeira jus – fourth course.

Vietnamese single origin dark chocolate mousse, orange curd, cherry compote, cocoa crumble, cherry & yoghurt ice cream – fifth course.

Petit fours – Gin & tonic cheesecake – sixth course.

Lilotang has a seven-course tasting menu that’s set to tingle your tastebuds this New Year’s Eve.

If you’re a fan of seafood and Asian fusion, you’ll love the mix of dishes and flavours on this menu. It includes rock oysters, umeshu sorbet, ponzu, sea grape, an assorted sashimi platter, aged soy sauce, cauliflower, smoked cheddar cheese, sweet gochujang sauce, risotto, shiso and parsley, sardine, soy glaze, braising and charred pork, peach puree, Ssamjang sauce, lettuce, steamed red snapper with sake, Asian herb, ponzu Japanese whiskey crème brulee and strawberry sorbet.

Included in the price, you’ll also get a glass of Verve Clicquot on arrival and a complimentary drink voucher for Ostani to see in the new year.

The Alby in Phillip is hosting lunch and dinner with plenty of specials in the lead-up to New Year’s Eve celebrations and drinks from 4 pm.

From 7 pm, DJ Luke will be joined by Dan on the saxophone to set the mood for the new year. When the new year kicks in, everyone will receive a glass of bubbles.

There’ll also be drink specials including $12 De Bortoli King Valley Prosecco Spritzers and $5 tinnies from 6pm. To see the full menu, visit The Alby.

Come and enjoy the lakeside fireworks from one of the best spots in Canberra as we say goodbye to 2022 by the lake at The Jetty. As well as New Year’s, it’s The Jetty’s first birthday and that calls for celebration.

There will be plenty of fried chicken at The Jetty, $10 cocktails from 5 to 6 pm, $35 buckets of Truly seltzers all day, lots of Bentspoke Beer, grazing boxes, live music, showbags and glow sticks, giveaways and more. Bookings for eight people or more must arrive between 5 and 7 pm.

Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club

When: Saturday 31 December, from 8:30 pm
Where: Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club

To celebrate New Year’s Eve, the Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club is offering a five-course menu for all to enjoy.

From 8:30 pm, you will receive a glass of sparkling on arrival then enjoy a delicious menu that includes housemade roasted focaccia with olive oil, crab, free-range pork belly, Junee lamb, artisan Gippsland triple cream brie, mango bavaroise and more.
