The Melbourne Cup is back! Here are the best places to catch all the action

Celebrate Melbourne Cup Race Day (Tuesday 7 November) from the comfort of the capital’s best bars, restaurants and racing venues.

Choose from a range of race day packages at Thoroughbred Park and witness the thrill of live racing and the colourful Fashions on the Field competition.

Lunch and a variety of live entertainment are also on offer at several Canberra venues, including The Alby, The Dock, Canberra Southern Cross Club and more.

TAB Melbourne Cup Race Day at Thoroughbred Park

Fashion, music and the thrill of live racing. The biggest day on the Australian racing calendar, TAB Melbourne Cup Race Day, returns to Thoroughbred Park in 2023. Set up trackside and take in the racing action, followed by Fashions on the Field, live music and DJs, roving entertainers, premium food vans and a special on-course giveaway. Plus, party on after at the RUC in Turner.

Don your race day best and join The Alby for a day of delicious bites, fabulous cocktails, friends and good times. Watch the race that stops the nation at a choice of two Canberra Southern Cross Club venues. At Woden, enjoy a buffet lunch featuring seafood and a glass of Arras on arrival set to the backdrop of live music. Or sit down for a long lunch at the Yacht Club, with a four-course lunch and glass of sparkling on arrival. There will also be sweeps and prizes throughout the day across both venues.

Melbourne Cup at Realm Precinct

Doma Hotels in conjunction with Piper Heidsieck Champagne and Underground Spirits will be throwing Melbourne Cup parties at three venues in the Realm Precinct, including Ostani Bar, Louis Dining and Leyla Bar. Choose between VIP packages at Leyla and Louis or general admission at Ostani. All tickets include a four-hour food and beverage package, prizes and entertainment.

The Melbourne Cup is coming to The Duxton! Watch the race live on the big screen over a four-course dining experience, starting with focaccia, smoked meats and stuffed bell peppers, followed by tuna tartare, fried squid, wood roasted scotch fillet, pan fried barramundi, salads and desserts. A drinks package featuring beers, ciders, wines and non-alcoholic beverages is also included.

Catch all the Melbourne Cup racing action live on big screens while enjoying a Cup Day lunch special, including Flemington Fizz cocktails and prawn buckets. There will also be commentary and sweeps during the race and a party with live music afterwards. Plus enjoy scenic views from inside or the dog-friendly beer garden, courtesy of the pub’s lakeside Kingston Foreshore location.

The Melbourne Cup will be streamed live and loud on the big screens at all three Eastlake venues, in Griffith, Calwell and Gungahlin. On arrival, members will receive a free glass of sparkling wine and have the chance to participate in wine hampers and beer case draws at each venue. Eastlake’s bistros will also be serving a variety of delicious lunch specials from 12 pm.

Midnight Bar

Dress to impress for Melbourne Cup at Midnight Bar with its 2.5-hour Prestige Package.
