Know My Name: Australian Women Artists 1900 to Now showcases art made by women. Drawn from the National Gallery’s collection and loans from across Australia, it is the most comprehensive presentation of art by women assembled in this country to date.
Told in two parts, this exhibition tells a new story of Australian art. Looking at moments in which women created new forms of art and cultural commentary such as feminism, Know My Name highlights creative and intellectual relationships between artists across time.

The second week of the Canberra Short Film Festival Part One gets underway this weekend. It will showcase a range of short films with a diverse set of themes – from horror to politics and even music videos. This will be followed by Part Two in March 2021, and it’s an event you do not want to miss.

Australian country duo NeillyRich are launching their debut album, Love Bender, at Magoo’s in Kingston. Love Bender is the debut full-length record for the duo. It’s a culmination of years of work, writing, driving, performing, and travelling, ending in a Nashville recording studio under the wing of renowned producer Jamie Tate.

Strut, Skank and Boogie is Tuggeranong Arts Centre’s “almost” End-of-the-Year Party! Grab your tickets now and join them as they wiggle away 2020 with an evening of live music on the Arts Centre lawns by Lake Tuggeranong.
Kicking-off at 5:00 pm is the funky, rockin’ blues music by the Johnny Reynolds Band. Continuing the evening of live music is Zambezi Sounds with their irresistible rhythms and vibrant mix of African and Reggae music, from 6.30 pm.

It’s time to come back together in-person. TEDxCanberra will take over ANU’s Kambri precinct on 29 November for TEDxCanberraWomen 2020: Fearless. Their COVIDsafe event will present to you an afternoon of live talks and performances by female change-makers, trail-blazers and big thinkers from Canberra out to change the world, one idea worth spreading at a time.
Tuggeranong Repair Cafe

A new Repair Cafe is opening on Sunday, 29 November. If you haven’t already heard of them, repair cafes are free meeting places, with one big focus – repairing things.
The event is being run by Tuggeranong SEE-Change, a grassroots sustainability organisation based in Canberra. They are encouraging everyone to look in their cupboards, drawers and shed to find anything that is broken or in need of repair, and bring it along. Volunteer fixers will be available for bicycles, clothing, textiles/material furnishings, soft plush toys, handbags and backpacks, broken electrical items, Christmas lights, garden solar lights, and knife/garden tool sharpening (max 2 knives).

General Sir Peter Cosgrove AK CVO MC is one of Australia’s most significant public figures. As a soldier, he saw action in Vietnam, winning the Military Cross, and rose to the very top of his profession, becoming Chief of the Defence Force. In 2014, Sir Peter became Australia’s Governor-General.
You Shouldn’t Have Joined… is the memoir of Cosgrove’s extraordinarily full and eventful life, covering some of his military life, while also allowing us an incredible insight into the role and world of Australia’s Governor-General. Every step of his journey has been accompanied by his wife Lynne who is very much part of his story.

Her Sound, Her Story is screening at Kambri as part of HERE I AM. The film is an intimate conversation unveiling the personal experiences, histories and significant social impacts of women in the Australian music industry.
Featuring more than 45 artists spanning six decades, its unique narrative brims with rage, strength, beauty and triumph: a moving and powerful dialogue that extends beyond the music industry to ask, “Where do we want women’s voices to sit in the world today?”.
