Heading out for a sit-down lunch or dinner can be difficult with kids. But many family restaurants provide a warm and friendly dining environment where parents and children are welcome. The food is good and usually budget-friendly, and there are often some activities to keep the little ones occupied. We’ve found the best family restaurants in the Canberra area for you and your family to check out.

Henry’s Family Restaurant

Henry’s Family Restaurant takes the stress out of family dining. With an extensive kids’ menu with staples every child will appreciate including nuggets, fish and chips, burgers and kebabs as well as fun customisable options such as the Make Your Own Tacos choice, Henry’s makes it nice and easy to take the family out. Meals are priced at $15 for non-members, $13 for members. So you can let the kids have a treat without worrying about breaking the bank. Henry’s also has gluten-free and vegetarian options.

Cafe Stepping Stone is located inside the Homestead gallery space at Strathnairn Arts with a fresh locally sourced menu inspired by a variety of international cuisines including Asian, South American and Middle Eastern with plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian options. Stepping Stone has a great menu stocked with pancakes, curries, toasties, halloumi, pies and an extensive drinks menu. If you’re a bit over the hustle and noise of the city, it’s an idyllic place to dine for some peace where you can relax and enjoy the view.

There’s great dining and a fresh revamped play area for kids in the newly renovated and facelifted family cafe.
