If the Farrah’s Liquor Collective annual warehouse sale wasn’t already the perfect excuse to replenish wine collections plundered during the festive season, this year, owner Matt Farrah has decided to up the ante.
The typically one-day sale will be extended to cover the entire month of February, which Matt says is perfect timing to hit back at rising inflation.
“We’re already known for changing the way people buy high-quality wines at everyday drinking prices, but for the month of February, we’re taking things further,” Matt says.
“With prices on everything else going up, we’re going the other way.
“We’re the inflation busters for liquor!”
Matt says Farrah’s business model ensures massive discounts on wines usually only sold at cellar doors.
“We deal with all the smaller producers who find it harder to access mainstream marketplaces,” he says.
“That’s where the ‘collective’ comes in – we work together to bring these unique products to the Canberra market where they otherwise wouldn’t be available, with discounts of up to 70 per cent.”
The warehouse sale will see a further 20 per cent off all wines purchased in lots of a dozen or more and four to six-packs of beer.
It applies to both in-store and online purchases, with free delivery within the ACT in February for online customers.
It will be a chance to try new varieties and, perhaps, discover a new favourite.
“The Morish Barossa Shiraz and the Morish GSM (Grenache Shiraz Mataro) are my stand-out picks,” Matt says.
“They’re usually $60 a bottle and we do them for $20 but with a 20 per cent discount, they come to just $16 a bottle.
“But if that’s not your style, and you’re unsure what to buy or how to stock up, head in-store and get some recommendations from our staff.”
Staff will also be on-hand to run wine tastings daily from 10 am to 5 pm, with new ranges available to taste over each of the 28 days.
“You can come in and try new things daily and find your next favourite Aussie drop at a price you would be more than comfortable with,” Matt says.
As a “champion of smaller vineyards”, Matt says Farrah’s specialises in wines not available elsewhere.
“We deal with producers from around Australia and our unique business model cuts out all the middlemen and cost of doing business,” Matt explains.
“We pass those savings onto our customers, saving them as much as $20 to $50 a bottle on high-quality wines.
“The annual warehouse sale makes these wines even more accessible.”
The annual warehouse sale will be Farrah’s biggest sale of the year, and Matt says the timing is no accident.
“We find a lot of new products come in around that period,” he says.
“People are also looking at restocking but don’t necessarily want to spend big bucks as they recover from the expense of the festive season and prepare for the year ahead.
“This year, we want not just to give people a chance to restock without breaking the bank but to give them more than one day to do it. A whole month, in fact.”
