Have you got a carnivorous craving? The $39 All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ Buffet at Hanara Korean BBQ restaurant in Civic should help hit the spot.
With Korean cuisine and especially BBQ gaining popularity worldwide, the restaurant located on Moore Street has been open for two years and has a solid following with nearby ANU students. Originally starting with an al-a-carte menu, they started doing the all-you-can-eat buffet halfway through 2018.
“The $39 All-You-Can-Eat Buffet is Canberra’s first Korean BBQ Buffet and we found this was the best way to do it as it brought in lots of new regulars. The buffet has over 30 dishes and new dishes every week so guests can experience new Korean dishes,” said Korean born Allan Kim, Hanara Head Chef and Owner.
“Working as a chef for over 20 years, it has been a dream to open a restaurant of Korean cuisine.” shared Allan. “Being able to share family recipes such as the Homemade Kimchi with restaurant diners is very special,” he continued.
Never been to a Korean BBQ Buffet before? Hanara is a great place to start, with friendly staff, casual atmosphere and an ample selection of hot and cold options. On any given day, there are over 10 hot and 15 cold selections at the buffet. The hot selections include noodles, rice and Korean Fried Chicken all designed to be enjoyed as entrees.
As for the most popular dish, Allan says: “the Korean Fried Chicken is definitely the most popular dish and we recommend trying it with as many different sauces as possible. The hot dishes are great for an entree as you begin to heat up and cook the cold meat options.”
The cold selections are the meats and seafood for grilling at your table with a built-in grill. The do-it-yourself grill style of cooking is a fun way to ensure your meal is cooked to perfection, exactly how you like it!
“Korean BBQ is all about having fun and sharing the experience of cooking with the table. The all-you-can-eat element allows guests to pick as many of the meats that they like. It also allows for some trial and error with different sauces,” said Allan.
