Evolution of Woden continues with new pub - Fenway Public House!

Woden town centre is in the midst of a boom. Derelict buildings are giving way to residential apartments, the government has invested $1 million to activate and reinvigorate the town square, and Westfield Woden is putting the cherry on the cake by opening the Bradley Street Dining Precinct on Thursday the 18th of April.

The culmination of a $21 million investment, the foodie precinct will be home to six new restaurants including Woden’s very own, long-awaited pub. Located along Bradley Street, Fenway Public House will finally give Southsiders a ‘local’ place for a casual drink, feed and social space.

While Fenway has been designed as a contemporary, casual pub, they are committed to offering a little something extra on all fronts. The venue boasts multi-levels including a mezzanine which overlooks a large U-shaped bar, a sunken indoor beer garden, marquee-inspired cocktail sunroom and a small stage to facilitate Tuesday Jazz nights and acoustic music Friday through to Sunday sessions. Plus, they promise to include all members of the family in the fun, with a kids playground and dog-friendly events on Sunday mornings!

With a capacity of 350 people, it is sure to be popular for private functions and have an active annual calendar of events.

The pub is named after Fenway Park, one of USA’s most loved baseball parks, known for their unrivalled exciting atmosphere. Fenway is hoping to follow in those footsteps, creating a truly unique, energetic vibe for Woden and encapsulating that same community-driven feeling.

“As an all-rounder style venue, we really wanted to harness the experience of going to a large event and how the community all comes together as one, but deliver it in a way that was unique and tailored to the Canberra market,” Fenway Interior Designer and Director of Koda Design Interiors, Rebecca Dawes said.

“We explored a saturation of green colours and textures in the design to create a variety of spaces that each had a rich, unique personality and vibe.”

The fun and energy of Fenway have been carried through the architecture, including a sunken dining room, roller doors on the kitchen and tonnes of greenery representative of the Fenway Park’s nickname ‘The Green Monster.’

Lush jungle-plants aren’t the only green though; a little tongue-in-cheek with the nickname presents itself in the form of an eye-catching mural of Frankenstein by local Canberra Artist John and a neon sign declaring ‘we were made for each other’.

As for their food and wine offering, “The menu has a selection of fresh and vibrant dishes from breakfast to dinner and an exciting selection of local and international beers on tap,” Owner Brentyn Wilson said. The sweet and savoury delectables are bursting with colour and flavours that are bound to tickle the taste buds.

“Fenway is your newest local pub to catch up with mates, watch a game or dine with your family,” Brentyn said.
