Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!
This week’s Pets of the Week are snow-white Hokey and handsome boy Willie!
Cat of the Week – Hokey
Sweet Hokey found himself at the Shelter as a stray all the way from Yass! It’s taken a lot of time for him to realise that the staff at the Shelter have his best interests in mind. He has finally let his guard down, shown his true personality and is ready to find his forever home.
Hokey is still taking time to learn how to ‘cat’ properly, but loves to come to staff and volunteers for pats, snuggles and a good purr session. This lovely boy is looking to find a cat-experienced home to continue his domestic journey. A family that will allow him to settle in and bond with his new owners at his own pace.
While living out in the big world, Hokey, unfortunately, contracted FIV, meaning that he must be an indoor-only cat. His pale complexion also makes this a necessity to ensure his skin is protected from the harsh sun. Hokey’s FIV status means that he should be the only cat in his new home, unless the resident cat is also FIV positive.
Hokey loves to eat and the easiest way to his heart is certainly through his food.
Dog of the Week – Willie
Meet Willie. This big handsome fellow has a lot to offer his new family. This giant is super friendly towards people and understands not every dog is his size, and can adjust play styles to suit other pooches. We think that Willie would be perfectly suited to a family that has another friendly and playful dog for company.
We don’t think Willie has ever had access to indoor life, and he can be a little cautious in this regard, but we expect him to adjust quickly once he understands that indoors can mean comfortable places to sleep, share cuddles and watching the latest Netflix hit.
Outdoors Willie is a happy, relaxed and confident man. He is one big gentle giant ready to take on the world. Willie, sadly, has never been taught to play with toys and, at the moment, fast movements over his head cause him to flinch away.
Willie will be the perfect match for an understanding and patient family, willing to take things slow so he can realise how great life is.
