Canberra won't miss out on Cold Chisel tour after all

Legendary rockers Cold Chisel have added Canberra to their 50th-anniversary tour dates after an “outcry” from fans.

The national capital was originally left out of the tour itinerary, although it was noted at the time that there was plenty of space in the schedule to add further dates.

Cold Chisel will now play on the Patrick White Lawns in Parkes, next to the National Library, on 28 November, supported by The Cruel Sea and Karen Lee Andrews.

It is one of six new shows added to the tour. The others are in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, and the Roche estate in the Hunter Valley, taking the total number of dates to 23.

Frontman Jimmy Barnes said the response had blown away the band.

“The demand for tickets was bigger than anything we’ve ever seen before,” he said.

Guitarist/vocalist Ian Moss said the band couldn’t do gigs everywhere, so it had tried to get to the places where the pleas were loudest.

“That’s why we’ve added new shows in Canberra and the Hunter Valley, as well as additional gigs in Brisbane and Sydney plus two more in Melbourne,” he said,

“The reaction of our fans has really fired us up – we can’t wait to play for everyone.”

Tickets will be released exclusively for pre-sale to members of the Cold Chisel, Face-to-Face Touring and ticketing company mailing lists from Monday, 17 June, at 1 pm to Tuesday, 18 June, at noon, unless sold out earlier.

Final tickets will then be available to the general public at 1 pm, Tuesday, 18 June.

To complement The Big Five-0 Tour, Cold Chisel is releasing a new album, 50 Years – The Best Of, on Friday, 23 August, available on multiple double-vinyl formats, on double-CD, and on download and streaming services.

The album covers all of their classic songs but also features a new track, You’ve Got To Move.

All shows are listed on the Cold Chisel website and people can still join the Cold Chisel mailing list for preferred access to tickets.
