Muddle Bar

| Editor
This is Canberra. Bars. Muddle Bar

A favourite with a young professional crowd on weeknights and with those looking for a civilized drink on weekends, Muddle Bar is elegant and inviting. The lounge is decorated with classic French prints, and the atmosphere is more conducive to a grownup drink rather than a thumping knees-up. Muddle Bar has the look of a 1920s library, and a list of cocktails that capture that era. Classics such as Sazarac, Old Fashioned, Tom Collins and Whiskey Sour are done with style here, and fit right in with the surrounds of the heritage listed Melbourne Building. A number of Martini variations include the signature Floral Martini–Esprit de June is used as the base liquor and mixed with lillet rather than vermouth, along with a little rose water. One of Canberra’s best known cocktail bars, it has been in operation for over a decade, but in recent times has had a stylish makeover in line with its new ownership. A simple bar menu includes an antipasto plate of smoked salmon, cold cuts, olives, grape tomatoes and cheeses, or simple offerings such as spring rolls and tempura prawns. Well located close to many city hotels and restaurants, it is an excellent spot to start the evening or for an after-dinner wind down.
